Intuition or a Wish? Pause Before Acting
When an impression feels important, separate what you noticed from what you hope it means. Give intuition room without skipping evidence or boundaries.

You have a strong feeling that someone will call, that an opportunity is right, or that a conversation has changed something. The impression feels clear. So does your wish for it to be true. How do you give your intuition a fair hearing without treating hope as confirmation?
There is no sensation that reliably proves an impression is accurate. Calm feelings can be mistaken, and nervous feelings can accompany a sensible choice. A useful approach is to slow down and separate the parts of the experience.
Write down the observation first
What actually happened? Perhaps someone mentioned meeting again, or you noticed a change in their usual behavior. Put that in one sentence. In a second sentence, write the meaning you gave it. Keeping the two separate helps you see where information ends and interpretation begins.
Name the outcome you want
Be honest about your preference. Wanting a relationship, a new role, or reassurance does not make you foolish. It means the question matters. Write “I hope…” without turning it into “I know…” That small distinction leaves room for another outcome and protects your ability to respond to new information.
Ask what would change your mind
If every possible event confirms the impression, you may not be giving it a fair test. What would count as evidence against it? A direct answer, a missed commitment, or clear practical constraints might matter. You should be able to update your view without feeling that you have betrayed your inner voice.
Choose an action that fits the evidence
A low-stakes impression might lead you to ask a question or explore an option. It should not require ignoring someone's boundary, spending money you cannot afford, or making a major commitment without checking the details. The stronger the consequences, the more important ordinary verification becomes.
Review your notes with kindness
If the impression did not fit what happened, keep that result in the journal too. You are learning how you interpret experiences, not building a case that you are never wrong. Notice whether a practice helps you feel more attentive and flexible, or leaves you searching constantly for signs.
You can bring this question to an intuitive reader: “Help me explore what I am noticing and what I may be projecting.” The reading can be a conversation about perspective. Your decisions can still rest on evidence, consent, and what is workable in your life.
